Apr 10, 2018 Economic Development Strategies for County Extension Educators - East (Heart of Oklahoma Conference Center, Shawnee Expo Center 1700 W. Independence, Shawnee, OK, from Apr 10, 2018 09:00 AM to Apr 10, 2018 04:00 PM)
This in-service will provide educators with an in depth look at economic development strategies for communities within their counties. After covering the basics of economic development strategies, the workshop will provide the educators participating with particular programs and resources to empower them to address economic development issues. Data, both sources of and how to interpret them, will be used throughout build educators' capacity in using data to justify projects and grants that support economic development in your community. Educators are encouraged to bring a laptop so they can bookmark useful websites for later use. Also, educators are welcome to invite community partners to attend this in-service.

Have you ever sat through a meeting and thought, "Why am I wasting my time?" Or, have you been in a meeting during which the agenda is high-jacked by one (or a few) "loud voices"? Or, have you attended a meeting that became contentious and wondered, "What do I do now?" In addition to reviewing open meeting requirements, this workshop will enable you to address all of the above issues and more! As Extension educators, we are often invited to host and/or participate in meetings, which also gives us the opportunity to shape the outcomes of these meetings and their impact on our communities. Educators are encouraged to invite community members that would also benefit from this training.
